This policy basically boils down to pulling most the funding from Public Services and thinking "volunteers" are going to take up the slack. In other words some mother Teresa esque character is gonna pick your bins up for you when the council refuse to do it for free.

He's honestly trying to say the general public are going to do things like hire teachers, clean the streets and generally do all the jobs we've already paid to be done with taxes.

The second it inevitably starts to crumble I'd bet my life the Torie response will be "Oh I guess theres not enough volunteers. I know, lets see if any already rich, self serving wankers fancy taking over these services as we've already relinquished responsibility."

The whole point off the Public Sector is to help those who need it and worked their whole lives to pay for it. Not to be some "pay as go" profiteering tool to be used to make rich people richer.

I do realise most the regular posters here are politically apathetic at best and I'll be lucky if anyone other than Danny volunteers an opinion so I'll throw this in as well in the hope it will draw a couple more in.

Actully on reflection calling Cameron a Moron is an insult to retards everwhere.

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. If you have forced volunteers cleaning the streets and doing other civil jobs, then ultimately problems are going to arise. A lot of these people will do a half-assed job to meet the requirements and in the end, we'll just end up having to pay for the mess to be sorted out.

It's not a system that works as it currently does (New Deal, et. al) and extending it will just cause more problems then it will solve IMO.

I don't follow politics very often, it interests me somewhat but not enough to read about or watch it on the news. I must say though expecting volunteers to fill in the gaps makes cameron sound like a crackhead. How do they come up with these ultimate solutions? I'd place bets its fairly similar to that south park recession episode where the US government behead a chicken, let the body run around on what can only be described as a wheel of fortune and their decision is whatever lays underneath the final resting place of the corpse.
