Short of it? I do think all Religion is a crock of shit. I used to consider myself a die-hard Atheist, in fact. I'm still an Atheist, but I've stopped the whole in-your-face thing. It's silly.
Even though I consider myself an Atheist, when asked, I tell people I'm a naturalist. The simplest reason can be summed up by this quote:
Defining yourself by what you are against says very little about what you are for."
That said, yes, I do think extremely religious people are barking mad, but that's just my opinion. I've long since resigned myself to the belief that religion is fine, and that yes, most people need it -- lest they have to face life's big questions alone. My only wish, is that people of all beliefs, faiths, or lack thereof could stop using it to incite hate against one another.
This probably doesn't cover your points very well...I just wanted to expand on the discussion, I guess.
My bad.

I was born and raised Catholic, and went to... whatever you call Sunday school when it's on Saturday. They pretty much taught us that being a good person is more about how you treat others than what you keep yourself from doing. Overall, it seems the Catholic church is more concerned with the well-being of humanity and couldn't care less if you touch yourself at night.
Morons like the Westboro Baptist Church, on the other hand, represent the bottom rung of humanity.

That guys pretty much singlehandedly holding the fort for enlightened common sense thinking in the face off a stream the usual "My big invisible buddys gonna fuck you up."
Really in that whole comments ream he not just displays the logical conclusions with actual quoted resources and scientific process, but reading through counter arguments the whole page illustrates just how flawed and fundamentally absurb any attempt by the cultists to create a rational argument is.
Isn't there already a thread on here pretty much the same as this one?

Does anybody think, that certain extremely religious people are barking mad ?
- Believe in spiritual mumbo jumbo
- Have no real opinions of their own
- Believe in stuff shoe-horned into them whilst young/knew no better?
- Religion is based on stuff made up by people unable to explain their environment thousands of years ago
- Religion helped organise societies starting up thousands of years ago, and gave credence to wannabee-leaders able to explain stuff on 'God', to people illiterate and unable to conceive ideas of their own.
- Sheep Effect.
