So, I finally caved and put a GPU in my machine.
Originally, I was hoping to catch the NVidia Kepler bandwagon when it rolled into town around about now, but that seems to have been delayed until next year. I can't seem to wait to play games that long, even though several of them worked rather well. The Radeon 4850 is a half-step down from the card I lost, but it was free from applet and even came with free condoms.
I'm considering livening things up slightly by posting reviews from the perspective of someone with an IGP, detailing my experiences, and perhaps spotlighting individual games. In other words, I'm thinking of doing something akin to my Summer Sale overview, but with pictures and more detail. Some games, for one reason or another, I've ended up with screenshots for. Those will be included. For others, I may have to maintain the settings I used and take a few before/after screenshots for "playable" settings. They're both ATI/AMD devices, so the same bugs are likely to persist.
If anyone has any particular requests, they should start with mySteam Library (- click). Any game with more than 0 minutes of play time qualifies.
But mostly, this post is about the fact that after three months, I now have a discrete GPU in my system and can actually finish off Mass Effect 2.

Sounds like some sort of conflict, probably resolveable though. Try removing other devices and seeing if you can track which one is causing it?
